"Nothing I do is my fault. My family is dysfunctional and my parents won't empower me! Consequently, I'm not self actualized! My behavior is addictive functioning in a disease process of toxic codependency! I need holistic healing and wellness before I accept any responsibility for my actions!"
Follow the conversation between Calvin and Hobbes if you agree.
So again, it's time for me to say goodbye to blogging, and hello to the stressful but fun-filled Ateneo life.
Bow.
Edit: (sometime around the start of June)
Wait lang!!!
>I know that what I'm going to say may incriminate me...
but I just have to say it:
I never realized that assembling an electric fan could be so KILIG.
Oh man, this is so bad for my health. HAHA. :p Why, oh why, is it so hard to resist THE CABINET? (Thanks for the term, Polly.)
But I know that in a week, month, or year, I'm going to look back and laugh at myself for this. That, or throw up.
_fiercely free The guy of your dreams hands you his cellphone. Trying to get it to work, you ask, "What's the PIN number?"
His nonchalant reply?
"YOUR BIRTHDAY."
*dies*
HAHAHAHA...unfortunately, I'm not relating this incident because it happened to me or anything like that. It's a scene from the very cool (duh) "He Was Cool," starring Johnny (Song Seung-hun). Forgive me for not getting in on the Star Wars hoopla right now, but I just loved loved loved this cute film. (Thanks for letting me borrow it, Mellow! I'm gonna look for my own copy. Haha!)
_fiercely free I finally got out of the house...and went straight to the Treehouse. Haha. And how can I forget? Sir Fermin was there. No kidding. He hasn't changed at all... Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Haha. ;p
But it was a good thing Teacher Ed was there. Apart from the pleasure of his company (weh)... it was great to have him when the ghost of Labella came back to haunt me. Woooo.
There I was, enjoying my English deadline-free summer, when I found out that Gino, AC's husband (hehe) had Sir Labella for Lit this sem...and he had assigned one of his famous deadly papers again, complete with the what-the-hell, I'd-rather-bang-my-head-against-the-wall poems and guide questions. So Pola and I pored over the 2 poems, instantly favoring the one entitled "Temptation," by Nina Cassian.
Call yourself alive? Look, I promise you
The guide questions were, as usual, mind-f***ers...sorry for the expletive. (Why are these images meant to be desirable/tempting? Why the similes? What do the last two lines have to do with hubris? What was the joke in the last two lines? Eyebrows=gashes, x=gashes, x=eyebrows. I'm sorry, but I really don't get the joke.)
We asked Sir Fermin to help us out, and he took a look at the poems but didn't really say anything. When Gino left, however, Sir asked us who we thought the speaker was. We replied that it was the serpent. Seemingly impressed, he wanted to know how knew.
"Sir, we saw it in the guide questions."
And then he went on to say that one might think of Adam as the speaker, since the temptations were phrased in a masculine way.
So I replied, "Since it's a feminist poem?"
Impressed again. He said something like, "I think you might have learned something from feminism, after all."
(Actually, nasa guide questions din 'yun. HAHAHA.)
But hey, if I had had time to study that poem, plus the pressure of having to write a paper on it for Labella, I would have figured that it on my own. Really. For now, I will simply appreciate the poem. And feel great about not having to write a paper on it! WEHEHE.
And you never know...one of these days, I just might post my own analysis of that poem, if only to get rid of the niggling feeling I get when faced with such a good, cryptic poem.
_fiercely free Something I picked up from Papemelroti (A Query Box):
Using the proper weather lingo, here's what I've come up with:
I figure that I'm not too much of a sunshiny person, let alone a heatwave type. Since I have always enjoyed the idea of winter, and my moods are a bit erratic... I think something cold and unpredictable would be appropriate.
Even though I'm like that, I am NOT enjoying the weather right now. It's raining again. Just a bit, not like yesterday's rain, which included some strong winds, thunder, lightning, and...brownout. Really, this isn't normal.
Thunderstorms in the summer scare me. If you ask me, they're a bit too... "apocalyptic."
_fiercely free This summer, I have been straining so hard to learn more Japanese. I've taken out my old handouts and notes on Nihongo from my 4th year elective. I've refreshed my memory on Hiragana, and I've started tackling Katakana (finally!). And of course, the only book I have been reading these days is the dusty old English-Japanese dictionary I found lying around the house.
It sucks, trying to study without professional training, but I have to do it if I want to learn even just a little. *Sigh* Rich people who can afford Japanese language classes, be grateful!
It's a good thing that I've been watching a lot of Naruto (he is the cutest kid ever!!! And I love Sasuke and Kakashi! And the handsome 4th Hokage!), because it's a great way to learn how the language works! Since I fight like the intelligent Sakura (who is in love with Sasuke like me..hehehe), I've been picking up some words from the series, like... "BAKA!!!"
Hwehehehe. *clap clap clap* No wonder I always said baka over baboy before.
And before I forget, I may fight like Sakura, but I'm really like SASUKE:
Except for the whole "homicidal, wants to kill older brother" thing. Hehe.
_fiercely free I'm a firm believer in the power of one of my favorite activities: planner-decorating. Being a form of scrapbook-making and dream visualization, it captures both my memories of the past and my dreams for the future. I can stick pictures and souvenirs of my experiences in there, as well as images of what I would like to have in my life. (Actually, this blog could serve as a "Reader" for my planner. It voices and articulates what the pictures in my planner are trying to say.)
Apparently, I'm not the only one who has discovered the power, as well as the therapeutic effect of cutting and pasting pictures and words from magazines and newspapers. My two 23-year old cousins have read about how this practice can help realize and fulfill your dreams. It seems that putting your goals and wishes into writing and images can actually help you to achieve them.
I've thought about it, and YES...it's true. At the risk of exposing my loser-ness (hahaha), here are some pieces of evidence:
1. I arranged a "Christmas wish list" (sometime after Christmas) with pictures of things that I wanted. After a few months, I got a couple of them: a DVD collection and of course, the cellphone unit that I wanted. I only realized it when I was flipping through my planner and chanced upon a picture of a cellphone on that wish list...a cellphone that is exactly like the one that I just got.
2. For no reason at all, or maybe just to fill up the space, I pasted the phrase "tall, basketball-dribbling, soccer-playing dude" from Candymag on a page of my planner. That week, on the date where I pasted the phrase, I actually MET a really, really handsome basketball-dribbling, soccer-playing dude. Really.
3. When I was in 4th year, I cropped Ira Cruz from a picture of the band Bamboo and kept his image in the back of my planner for future use in planner-decorating. Actually, I don't really know why I did that, since I wasn't planning on attending any Bamboo concerts or gigs. Guess what? Come college time, Bamboo came to Ateneo for a free performance, where I saw and swooned over Ira Cruz. And Bamboo, of course.
4. I really, really wanted a tube of Neutrogena Shimmer Sheers, but it wasn't available here in the country. I pasted a pic of it in my planner. Guess what? I received one from my relatives in the States when they sent their latest package. Hahaha.
Going back to my cousins... they were so excited about such an idea that one of them brought the thickest magazine that I have ever seen in my entire life to a family dinner in a restaurant. She brought along some scissors and gave us the mags to flip through and I guess, "look for our dreams."
I thought to myself, "Great! I'm always up for cutting out pics from magazines (as evidenced by the cut-up newspapers and magazines at home. hahaha.)" So I took the magazine..
And HOLY SHIT! It was a bridal magazine!!!
You know, the kind you flip through when you want to get married! My dear cousins were flipping out over the gowns and imagining their own weddings!
I wanted to shout that I'm only 18, for crying out loud!!! I don't think about such things. The idea of a boyfriend cannot even cross my mind. Cannot...as in it's impossible to the point that I can't fathom having one.
But hey, I chose two wedding gowns anyway. Ang ganda eh. But I'm not about to paste them anywhere and wish that the day will come when I'm going to wear 'em as I walk down the aisle to my perfect fiancee. Hah!
As Ted Failon put it, "I cannot fathom to the abyss of my uncertainty!"
_fiercely free Well...
I'm starting to see a glimpse of the future.
My brother will have this job that takes up most of his time. He'll have long work hours, always going into overtime to finish some project. And if he's free, he'll go to his friends and hang out with them. Overnight and all.
My friends and their boyfriends will be surgically attached to each other, enjoying gigs and gimmicks at night after long hours of desk jobs in the corporate world.
And hopefully, I'll be in love with an amazing career that involves all of the things that I love, including FILMS, WRITING, some media work, investigation, sports, and *please please please* planner-decorating. (HAHAHA.) That way, I won't be lonely, I won't need anybody, for I'll be loving my own work.
There you go. I have seen the future.

that for the first time you'll feel your pores opening
like fish mouths, and you'll actually be able to hear
your blood surging through all those lanes,
and you'll feel light gliding across the cornea
like the train of a dress. For the first time
you'll be aware of gravity
like a thorn in your heel,
and your shoulder blades will ache for want of wings.
Call yourself alive? I promise you
you'll be deafened by dust falling on the furniture,
and you'll feel your eyebrows turning to two gashes,
and every memory you have - will begin
at Genesis.

And loving myself even more.
Let it come. After all, I've handled the present well enough.

I've been living under a rock these past few weeks...maybe that's why it feels so HOT!!! Weh. I'm not making any sense. I've never been temperature-sensitive, but this heat is enough to drive anyone crazy.
I was dragged by my parents to go to Subic with them for a CFC event. Guess what? I didn't swim. I didn't even let my feet touch the sandy shore. I didn't do anything. Why? Because I'll take a mountain with trees, animals, and a hiking trail over the beach any day, that's why. *I miss ACP! Nature Survival Game...*sigh*
My beloved T-Mac just can't seem to get out of the first round. He looked so tired in Game 7, which was very, very painful to watch. TAMBAK. Grabe. And I was really hoping for a Houston-Phoenix series...
Steve Nash!!! Oh yeah! This guy has earned my respect and admiration. He truly deserves to be MVP! (Get out of the way, ogre Shaq.)
