Well...I had a guest this week. The kind of guest that bursts through the door, blasting it away with special effects and matching background music, not to mention some hysterics.
You guessed it: Drama stopped by for a visit. I guess it heard about that murder plot. So as I was enjoying what I thought was the funeral, Drama came by to remind me that it's not about to drop dead anytime soon.
Too bad, guys.
Oh, well.
The only thing to do right now is curl my hair...and hope that I'll find it insanely hilarious. Or even hilariously insane.

1. Manood ka ng Ateneo Video Open, or AVO. This is an annual event brought to you by my org: Loyola Film Circle, or LFC. Click on the link for details. Basta, I had such a blast at the AVO last March 21. Fun fun fun!
2. Magpakalunod ka sa mga Dibidi. 'Yung tipong..."Boss, dibidi?" Haha..as long as it's not porn. Check out the latest flicks from Korea (cute quirky films!), art films, foreign films, and of course, the latest Hollywood blockbusters.
3. Manood ka ng TV. If you don't have access to our country's shady dibidi corners, there's always television. Yeah...check out Koreanovelas like "Memories of Bali" (Paolo..ahem..Karla!) and "Stained Glass." Don't forget dramatic thrillers like "Lost" (I am loving this show!!!) and "CSI:NY" on AXN.
4. Manood ka ng NBA PLAYOFFS! GO HOUSTON ROCKETS!!! And Phoenix Suns. Hahaha...T-Mac and the Rockets won the first two games in their series against the Dallas Mavericks! That's enough to make my day! Hahahaha..
5. Magpunta ka Market!Market! Siguraduhin mo lang na may dala kang pera...kung hindi, lalo kang iiyak. That place made me a true girly girl...it made me want to shop. Great finds! Somebody please take me there again!!! And don't forget to give me money!
6. Matuto ka ng isang panibagong bagay. "Learn something new." It's true...it doesn't have to be boring. For instance, I finally read the instruction manual of the digicam that has been collecting dust in our house...so now I can use it for gimmicks and LFC events! Yay!
7. Manood ka ng "Friends." It doesn't matter if it's a rerun. It doesn't matter if you've seen it before. Every episode is a guaranteed laugh trip. Other laugh-out-loud shows: "That 70's Show" (Topher Grace!) and "MTV Wildboyz."
8. Mag-exercise ka. Yes. Taekwondo and Aerobics and Boxing all at the same time? TaeBo rocks! Trust me, it'll make you feel great.
9. Mag-usap kayo ng mga kaibigan mo. A phone call from a friend is always good.

It's ICHIRO time once again!
Yes, friends. Whenever summer comes, my heart belongs to Ichiro Suzuki (and Takeshi Yasutoko and Tony Hawk..hehe.) I get to watch baseball games on BS1, the Japanese channel on cable. Wheeee!
I got to watch a series of games between the Mariners and the Texas Rangers. Last Saturday, the Mariners kicked some Texan ass! (Hahaha..I actually wrote this "report" last Saturday, but I'm only posting it now.)
Some highlights:
+ Ichiro had his 3rd steal of the season! Yay!
+ His average (as of Saturday, I think) is 0.533! It went down to 0.526, I think, last Sunday. If only he could keep it up for the rest of the season! Haha..nangarap pa ako. But really, I hope that he can make it to ).400 this season. If anyone can do it, Ichiro can.
+ The bottom of the 8th: amazing!
+ 2-run homerun by Raul Ibanez!
+ They intentionally walked Ichiro! Twice during the game! That goes to show how good he is...*clap clap clap...and faints.*
+ Ichiro was actually smiling while talking with the 1st base coach and waiting for the game to resume. *sigh* He had reason to smile...at that moment, they had 0 outs, bases loaded. But Valdez struck out. (that's okay..i have high hopes for this guy. I like him; he'll do well. ahahha.) Then Bloomquist had a 2-run hit, upping the Mariners lead to 9-6. Wheee!
+ And finally, Ichiro made the catch for the win! Hahaha! *clap clap clap*
They had another great game Sunday...but unfortunately, they lost that one...last inning na nga, nawala pa! Hehe..but it was still a good game.
Looking forward to more wins this season!

I went to Aika's debut last Friday, along with Enya, Be, Mellow, Pam, April, Bogs, Lesley, CK, Kenji, Randy, and Aika's friends from UP Manila. Karla and Mia were the hosts, because Pola couldn't be there to host along with Karla.
Actually, Aika offered the hosting duties to me...but I declined because I'm such a wuss. Haha..no..I didn't know how early/late I was going to stay, so I couldn't accept the job. Be also declined, so both of us didn't get the gift packs that the hosts received after doing a great job..sayang! Haha.
Anyway, since Pola couldn't be there, she fulfilled her 18 candles duty through a very hi-tech phone patch. Hahaha..actually, Bogs just put her on loudspeaker and directed the microphone towards the cell phone. Hehe.

I had no idea

I'm a Filipino. I'm in the Philippines.
That means I'm in Asia. Right?
How come I have almost no access to the flourishing Asian pop culture that dominates Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and the rest of Asia?
I've been here all along. But I'm missing so much. If only I could speak or even understand Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, I'd know so much more!
I want to know more about Asian Cinema! I especially want to see more Korean films! And Japanese, of course. How am I supposed to get my hands on films like Taegukgi (which I've been dying to see since I saw the trailer more than a year ago)? Waah.
This whining session was brought about by searching for info about Full House and discovering more about the Asian pop culture that's been brewing right under our Philippine noses! Or right beside our islands, for that matter.
Do I have to content myself with watching Americanized Asian television, like MTV Asia?
Perhaps. But I'll enjoy it while I can...especially MTV Whatever Things! Hahaha..sorry but let's cut the drama and move on to the fun...
I watched an episode of Whatever Things with the amazingly fluent and HOT host Edison Chen *drools and faints* and I loved it!

June - September Recap

I've plunged right back into blogging without mentioning the past year. The things I've been blogging about lately make it seem like the past school year never happened. But I assure you...my first year in Ateneo did happen. And it was wonderful beautiful awful lonely happy stressful exciting unpredictable humiliating nerve-wracking challenging eye-opening educational painful rewarding. And now it's OVER.

Hahaha. I really can't define my whole schoolyear in one coherent sentence, although I've been taught A LOT about coherence, unity, and grammar in English this year. Trust me. I've learned a lot.

--> ORSEM. Nuff said.
--> Guys, first day pa lang...nag-slow motion na kaagad ang mundo. I was in my first Chem class, wondering why the hell I ever signed up for Chem...when the door opened. And he walked in. I swear, I wanted to ask the teacher to re-check the attendance just so I could hear his name! Haha..more on that impossible thing later.
--> I learned how to play cards. Pusoy dos, tag-team pusoy, tong-its (spelling?) and more.
--> Eggie's birthday "surprise". The Tianx and I went to her house on June 28 to give her a surprise, but we were the ones who got surprised...because she wasn't home. Haha.
--> I had one great "social" day. Hahaha...quotes from that day:

--> Druing the first Chem lab class, I finally talked to "DV". Darth Vader...Yoda..****...get it? Hahaha. And during the days and weeks that followed, I found out that he's not purely Filipino. And he is so off-limits. It's not because of a girlfriend. It's because of GOD. *cries* But I understand now...it's God's will. It's his calling. hahahaha and drama talaga.

--> Enya's bday gimmick in Eastwood with Tianx+Allen. We watched Spiderman 2...and there was an amusing incident with me, Be, Bogs, and a cute Japanese guy who caught us trying to take a picture of him. Hahaha.

--> Watched Y Tu Mama Tambien in Mia's house with the Tianx! Hahaha..I LOVE LOVE LOVE Gael Garcia Bernal.
--> The worst line ever: "Excuse me, have you seen my friends?" Really smooth, Beba. What the hell was I thinking?!?
--> Katz's despedida at OJ's Grill in Eastwood. Bittersweet.

--> Library: sight-seeing the love of my life...with him and a common friend laughing at me. Haha. (Actually, the laughing part happened around July..wahaha. I still remember. *sighs*) It was supposed to be embarrassing, but I loved it anyway. At least he knows that I exist. Pathetic, but still..
--> Taekwondo sparring sessions during PE. During one session, I was called "Argentina" vs. "China," a chinita classmate. So what does that make me, a Latina? Hahahaha. I love love love this sport. I love the workout. I love the challenge. I love it. One of the coaches asked me to join the Taekwondo club when they train in Moro, but I declined. Sayang. Tsk tsk.
--> Sound wave MIS concert with the Tianx, Kuya, and his friends. Oh, it was a "bulimic" event...this is perhaps one example of the Tianx-Boys Boom, as I like to call it. Drama.

--> Speed-O Concert with BAMBOO and Sugarfree!!! Wahhh...I LOVE BAMBOO. and IRA Cruz!!! Should've taken a picture with them..but noo..I walked right by.
--> My Taekwondo Promotion! I had a crush on the hot judge...who was right in front of me. I was so close that I had to stop the drills with his table pushed up against me while everyone else continued. Hahaha. Hindi naman ako na-GOF masyado. But I did mess up the Q&A part...where he was amused by my wrong answer. Haha..but I apparently did well enough to make it to 7th degree yellow belt! Oh yeah...HIGH YELLOW!
--> Mcoustic Night, the official debut of Joketime, the band consisting of AC (vocals), Be (vocals and guitar), Bogs (guitar), Mellow (bass), and Riva (drums/khon). Too bad I didn't catch Sugarfree, Imago, and CAMBIO during this event.
--> MY 18th BIRTHDAY. I didn't have a party/debut of any kind..just a quiet dinner with my family.
--> The OC VCD marathon! Like everyone else, I fell in love with Seth Cohen. *laughs* I was sick that week, so my therapy was laughing (and crying) at everything Seth said.
--> I witnessed the UAAP frenzy when I watched an Ateneo-La Salle game in the CAF. They set up a TV, and everyone flocked to the caf to watch...it was so fun to see everyone riled up over the game. I had good seats, of course.:p
--> Bday class lunch for Bogs at Max's.
--> HULA CARDS na pa-uso niPets. Hahaha...now we all know how to predict one's love life through cards. And of course, I had a *LAUGH ATTACK* with Mellow because my of "my future" in the cards with TOOT. Hahahhaa!!!!!!
--> "Surprise" party for Bogs at Discovery Suites with Tianx (with April!), Kuya, J, Caste, Mon, Pets, Jonah, Jolo, Raf, Torio, Les, Mell, Kenji, Archie, Marj and of course, the FOPSTERS and FOBSTERS. And more. Hahaha. Oh, and this is also J-Riva day. And the day Mon and Bogs became "official."
--> The Taekwondo finals: sparring. Haha..I believe I kicked my opponent's ass. Hard. My favorite moment of glory was when I whipped her head and because of the force and height of my kick...,sumabit yung paa ko sa ulo niya. Hahaha. *evil, triumphant laugh* Hey, I sustained a giant bruise on my foot (that still hasn't completely disappeared) and a bump on my shin because of that fight. And my left big toe will never be the same again. Haha. Ang drama.

Long live Clyde Drexler!!!
What a name. And what a basketball player.
I was watching the 1995 NBA Finals game 1 this morning...a game that I probably watched 10 years ago when my family was so pro-Penny Hardaway.
But this time, I didn't really care about Penny. (Although I still admired him a bit...hey, that was his peak...so let's give him credit for being a good player.) And I couldn't care less about Shaq, that big horrible guy that I really hate. Haha.
Today I noticed Clyde Drexler. WOW.
Perhaps it's because of the whole Penny-Orlando mania that I didn't notice him before...or maybe I was just too clueless about basketball back then. ARG. Now I regret being such a little kid that I didn't notice players like Clyde Drexler...I missed a lot. I could have watched Houston games and rooted for him for many years...but nooo.. I had to get into basketball years later. Tsk tsk.
It was a great game...the kind that really makes you say, along with the commentators, "I LOVE THIS GAME!" 4 missed free throws for Orlando just as the 4th quarter was ending. A 3-pointer for Houston to tie the game and take it into overtime. Some Clyde Drexler heroics and a little push by Hakeem Olajuwon to win the game for the Rockets. *clap clap clap*
Whahaha...I laughed when my tito commented that Drexler was kind of "banlag," just like most of my basketball crushes (James Yap, Tracy McGrady). Wehehe...wala tayong magagawa. Magaling talaga sila mag-basketball eh.

Full House Frenzy
I finally finished one of my favorite Asianovelas to date:
Full House with the ever-lovely Song Hye
Kyo (better known as Jenny from Endless Love
1), the hot and funny Rain, and of course,
the handsome, handsome Kim Song Soo.
I LOVED IT.
Top: *sigh..just another beautiful day on Full House.*
Middle: Aww...A couple that cleans together, stays together. Hahaha!:p
Bottom: Papa Luigi with the dark top + white tie. Hahaha. *faints*
From the very first trailer, I knew that it was a good
one and that I had to watch it. Of course, I was right.
Haha...I convinced a lot of people to watch it as well...I
had to re-tell the whole story many times to different
people just so they could catch up with the plot and just
watch the show! It paid off because I got to watch the
last episodes through Mellow, one of the people I
persuaded to watch the show. Hahaha..thanks Mell!
Aww..I really really liked Full House. Song Hye Kyo as
Han Ji-eun or Jessie in the Tagalog
version was sooooo beautiful. I swear...ang ganda ganda
ganda ganda niya...and who can forget the
clothes??? I LOVED HER CLOTHES! Vibrant shades
of pink yellow green white blue + layered tops +
cardigans + cropped jackets + shrugs + cute skirts +
pretty dresses + feminine prints + heels + sideways
ponytail + curly pigtails + braids + flowers in her hair +
unique bags + Song Hye Kyo = WOW. *jaws dropping,
pupils dilating*
Guys, hindi naman sa nati-tibs ako. Hindi masyado.
Hahaha...seriously, anybody, guy or girl, would go gaga
over this amazingly gorgeous woman. And they dressed
her up in that to-die-for wardrobe pa. Eh di namatay
lahat sa kagandahan niya. Whahahaa. And I seriously
drooled over her clothes and accessories. Because of
this show, my mom and I always go, "Uy, Jessie ung
damit na yun o!" whenever we see clothes that
remind us of Ji-eun's wardrobe.
Going back to the cast... Rain as Lee
Young-jae or Justin was h-o-t, and sobrang
nakakatawa. Hahahaha...television has finally captured
the epitome of GOF with Rain's acting. Very,
very GOF. He and Song Hye Kyo looked soooooooo cute
together...the type of loveteam that squeezes my heart
and makes all the kilig come out. *cries* Wahaha.
And of course.. Kim Song Soo as Yoo
Min-hyuk or Luigi was very success! (again,
i'm against carabao english, and "very success" is just an
expression my friends and I have. ok? Haha.) His Takeshi
Kaneshiro (read: Japanese) good looks combined
with the sharp metrosexual wardrobe was *DEATH.* I
loved his dark suit + white tie + white belt look. Then
again, I loved all of his looks. *drools* Hahahaha.
The other character in the show, Kang
Hye-won or Lorraine was also good. I have
to say that I began to like her more when I watched the
Korean version, because they "over-bitchified" her in
the Tagalog version through the dubbing. In Tagalog, her
deep nasal voice made her look bitchy and nasty. I
hated her for a while (Haha..affected ako). But then,
her real voice was really nice. Soft, feminine, and just
maganda. That voice didn't sound at all bitchy, it just
showed her vulnerability...it made me understand her
character more.
As I love to do with shows and movies that I
watch...I collected some quotes and lines that struck
me.
"I shouldn't wait. It takes up so much of my
feelings, and I keep thinking of it, and I keep waiting for
him. Waiting for someone is quite a tiring
thing.". - Han Ji-eun / Jessie
"What kind of feeling? I don't feel anything.
There is no feeling." - Lee Young-jae / Justin
And this last one, for me, is the best line from the show. I
have felt this way before...and so I'd like to say this
to all the guys I've ever liked...this line makes
good use of understatement (yes...something
from Labella).
"...I like you a lot. But I kind of respect

Manila Surprise
Belated Happy Birthday, Aika!
I was going to post that on April 1, but I was too tired...after the "exciting" day with the Tianx. Haha...
Last Friday, I went to Manila with the Tianx minus Eggie and Aix (Pola Be Bogs Pam Mia Karla Riva), plus Allen. We went all the way there from Katipunan to meet Eggie and of course, surprise Aika on her 18th birthday!
We arrived a bit early, so we all walked around Robinson's Place for a while before going to Dencio's. Finally, Enya arrived with an unaware Aika...who couldn't contain her tears of joy and surpise when she saw us all waiting for her.
We all sat down to a wonderful meal (with all the matakaw people in a row: Allen, Pam, Bogs, Me, and Be) filled with the usual hirits and kwentos that I've been missing for a while.
After the meal, Riva, Pam and Allen had to leave, so the rest of us went up to Aika's condo. After lounging for a while, we went to UP Manila, where we saw Torio and Andrea Berkley(tama ba spelling?haha). UPM looked like the universities that I watch on television. Haha...I'll stop there.
We went back to Aika's place and ate merienda with her family...and then my dad started texting. He was on the way to McDo Katip...and I was still in Manila! So we all dragged ourselves to the MRT station, where we had a hell of an experience.
I've travelled to Manila by train before (with Enya Be Karla), but this was nothing compared to that! It was great to have a train car just for females. You'd think that it would be pleasant to commute with just women, but you'd be wrong. Hell, you're dead wrong.
In the words of Be, "kahit himatayin ka doon, nakatayo ka pa rin." It's so true...we were all packed in there like sardines...but the SMELL was even worse than that of sardines. I first detected the smell of hospitals...that chemical, "alchoholized" smell to cover up something dirty and smelly. But then my friends articulated it better: AMOY PAA.
It was so bad that Pola pulled a Pam and had her head near my neck for most of the the ride, trying to drown herself in my scent instead. It didn't matter that I was sweaty myself...because even a sweaty me is more fragrant than that foot smell.
And guess where the smell was coming from?
Nope, not some woman's feet. Some woman's HAIR. Yes. Hair. *vomits*
Hahaha...the LRT ride to Katipunan after that was much better. We finally arrived in McDo 30 minutes after my dad did. Buti na lang good mood siya at di nagalit. Whew.
Fun Fun Fun! Wahahaha!
Now why exactly did we need to do all that when we know that we're all going to celebrate her birthday on April 8 anyway?
In the words of Aika: Kailangan ko pa palang mag-birthday para mapa-punta kayo rito.
Everyone else: Hindi, kailangan pang mag-Boracay si Pola para magpunta kami.
Aika: Ah, hindi ko pala birthday 'to eh...despedida ni Pola.
Hahahaha!
Yes.Si Pola kasi eh.
Because Pola's going to miss Aika's debut on Friday, she went to great lengths to organize a surprise instead. Tsk tsk...kaw talaga Pola o. Haha joke lang Polly...we all made her pay for it through all the hirits that she got. :p Hahaha.
I missed the Tianx...it's been so long since we all got together like that, and I'm happy that we all got to go out. Kumpleto. April almost made it...she was in McDo Katip for a while (ang ganda ng hair ni April!!!) but she had to leave. Sayang.
But as always, I had such a great time with all of you guys, MRT foot smell and all. Ang saya saya saya.
By the way, I didn't make it to my blockmate Baba's debut that same night. I didn't have transpo on the way home. Tsk tsk. Sayang... but I'm hoping to have an EK gimmick with my block next week. Cross your fingers for me!!!
On a sadder note, let's all say a prayer for the late Pope John Paul II. And be sure to pray for the Church as well...I hope that the pope's successor will be up to the challenge of guiding us all. +
